Heliamphora
New World pitcher plant family · 22 in this guide
Substrate
Mostly long-fibred New Zealand sphagnum moss with some pumice or lava rock mixed in, for airiness and cooling; live sphagnum works too, as long as it does not overgrow the plant.
Pot
Plastic, pale-coloured and on the large side (see temperature below) to keep soil temperature more stable.
Water
Tray method, damp to wet year-round; use cold water, in summer preferably refrigerated, to keep the soil from heating up.
Location and light
Bright light; in a terrarium, strong fluorescent lighting (for example four T5 tubes). With too little light the plant stays greener but less vividly coloured.
Temperature
Around 21-26 °C by day, 4-10 °C at night — that nightly difference is essential. A climate-controlled greenhouse or terrarium works better than an ordinary windowsill; pale-coloured, large pots (at least 15-20 cm) help keep the temperature stable. No winter dormancy needed.
